Warehousing And Logistics: You Don’t Need Excuses
At SSO Logistics we fully understand that what we do is simply a necessary evil for your business. Necessary, in the sense that you simply cannot do without having your goods transported from one place to another, and evil in the sense that – yes – we are an overhead.
It is for that reason that we have always recognised that what we do should be in the background. It should just “happen”. The very last things that you need from warehousing and distribution companies are excuses. You really do not want to know that the reason your goods did not arrive at the destination at the time you were told they would is because an agency driver didn’t turn up.
You were told that “xyz transport company” would always do what you need and get your pallets where they need to be on time. What you don’t want to hear is a long list of excuses as to why that didn’t happen. We understand that if things don’t arrive on time it can cost you money – a lot of money.
If you have a production line running and it suddenly has to stop because the things that are needed haven’t arrived, you suddenly have factory staff standing around idle. Worse still, you then have your customers on the phone blaming you for the fact that their products haven’t arrived, when it is not your fault at all.
Even if you are not a manufacturer, you still need everything to arrive when it is supposed to arrive. You may be buying in goods from abroad and need them deposited in our warehouse for a week or two so that they can then be transported on to your end customer, and you never actually have to see them. That’s fine, as long as your end customer gets them when he or she is supposed to.
We understand that people go sick. Accidents happen. A flight gets delayed and a driver doesn’t get home until two days after the end of his holiday. That is one of the reasons that we have no less than five of our office staff HGV trained, so that when all else fails we STILL have someone who can step in and take over to ensure that what we promise actually happens: your goods WILL be there on time.
That’s really all you want to know about our warehousing and logistics service. As we said earlier, you don’t have the slightest interest in HOW it happens, but just need to know that it will happen as promised.
With 20 years of experience in the logistics business behind us, a huge warehouse in St Helens, and a large choice of transport, together with our membership of United Pallet Service, we can promise you that we keep our promises!
